Next May is District Camp time again. Friday 4th to Monday 7th May 2012 at Blackland Farm, East Grinstead.
We would like every member to come to the camp and join the fun. We are in the process of organising what we hope will be a memorable experience for everyone. We have a small team concentrating on the activity bases.
As the plan develops we will provide regular updates in future editions of Links, on this web page and at sectional meetings.

Pricing:

Camping member (Cub, Scout & Explorer Scout): £35.00
Camping Leader: 1 leader free for every 6 children
Extra Leader/CRBed adult: £5.00/day
Day visiting Beaver (inc transport): £15.00
Day visiting Beaver Leader/CRBed adult (inc transport): £10.00

The above will cover all costs apart from food and transport other than where shown.

I am writing to invite you to an open meeting about the District Jubilee Camp. As I am sure you know, this is planned for May 4-7th 2012 at Blacklands Farm. Those of you who were involved in the centenary camp in 2007 will, I hope, recall a very memorable occasion, but there was a lot of organisation that had to go into it beforehand. A small team has been working over the 18 months to put things in place for this coming camp and now is the time to involve all the leaders in the district and seriously move things forward.

We have therefore arranged and open meeting for all leaders/helpers etc. who want to come along with the purpose of:

• Updating everyone on the overall plan and the details of what is going on
• Reviewing where we are in terms of organised the activities (actually we are in good shape but still need help from groups that have not yet committed).
• Informing leaders on the process for registering attendees and making payments to the district
• Providing an opportunity for questions to be asked and issues resolved.

The meeting will on Thursday 23rd Feb at 8.00pm at the 19th Wimbledon HQ [junction of Oakwood Road & Cottenham Park Road, Raynes Park]

I hope as many of you as possible can make it and that every Group in the District has at least one leader attending. Please feel free to invite any of your colleagues who may not have received this email.

General Notes

Peter Hutton will be the overall contact for co-ordinating the zones. He will contact those who have offered to run zones. Following those conversations he will contact the Groups who have not offered to help as yet as we need every leader to play their part in the weekend. Peter to determine zone leadership and leader numbers for each zone.
Neil McLauchlan will have a meeting with Andrew Hayward and Paul Henderson to discuss the Beavers and Explorers roles for the camp.
The Beaver Leaders & helpers coming down for the day on the Sunday will need to circulate with the Beavers and help on the zones as required.
There will be a Catholic Mass arranged. Probably for Saturday afternoon @ 5.30pm.
We have booked a hut for the weekend [Restrop, same as last time]. If any Groups have a request for anyone who needs indoor accommodation then will they please let me know asap.

Important Points

Groups will need to arrange their own In-touch/Home Contacts for the weekend.
Groups will need to CRB all adults asap [ideally by the end of Jan]. The forms need to be cleared well before the camp.
Groups will need to complete their own NAN forms in the usual way.

Important Dates

13th February: Organising team to meet
23rd March: Open meeting for everyone to present the camp plans
By the end of March: Everyone to have paid and submitted names of attendees
April: Activity groups sorted
Thurs May 3rd tents-up [if you wish]
Fri May 4th Camp begins

Important Request

Is there anyone who could be available to be on site on Thursday 3rd & possibly Friday 4th May, during the day, to oversee the marking out of the sleeping field, positioning of the large marquee, portaloos etc.
