Patrol Camping Weekend 2007
First Aid
1. Each Patrol should have with them a fully stocked First Aid Kit with quantities suitable for the activity and the numbers involved. It should only contain:-
Individually wrapped
adhesive plasters in a selection of sizes
This list is taken from the
Scout Association's First Response course book
2. The First Aid Kit should
be stored in a clearly marked, preferably green with white markings,
clean container and kept in a readily accessible place on the Patrol site.
3. During the camp one
member of the Patrol other than the PL should be designated as the
First Aider. The First Aider should have knowledge of First Aid and
know how to deal with minor incidents which might reasonably be
expected to occur.
4. The Patrol First Aider
should be aware of Patrol members who may have an allergic reaction
to adhesive plasters, bee stings, analgesics or Penicillin etc.
5. It is essential that the
First Aider and PL know where the nearest available telephone is
situated, the location of the nearest adult supervision and the exact
location of the camp site.
6. Any accident or injury
that occurs during the camp must be logged in a book by the First
Aider stating the name of the injured person, the type of injury,
cause of the injury and names of witnesses.
