Patrol Camping Weekend 2007
Food Guidelines
The menu should be chosen taking into account the tastes of all Patrol members such that each meal is enjoyed by everybody and is appetising and nutritious.
It is suggested that the Saturday Lunch should be a meal that is easy and simple and MUST be prepared at the Patrol site such as a salad, sandwiches, pies, fruit etc. with soup or a hot drink if desired. Pre-packed lunches are not acceptable.
The Saturday Evening Meal is to be a two course cooked meal and is the premier meal of the event. The use of fresh food is to be desired and this will be reflected in the assessors marks.
Sunday breakfast need not be of the cooked "Full English" variety and Patrols may prefer something lighter and simpler such as fruit juice, cereal, toast etc.
Sunday Lunch should follow the same guidelines as for Saturday. There is no need for Patrols to cook a full meal as they will be returning home early Sunday evening and it is assumed that a hot meal will be provided there.
It should be borne in mind that food taken to camp in a frozen condition will have defrosted by Saturday evening and will, in all probability, be inedible by Sunday. It is therefore recommended that if refrigerated food is taken it should be for consumption on Saturday. Foods such as milk, eggs and butter should be stored in a manner that will allow their safe consumption on Sunday.
It is essential that all food is stored correctly and that hygiene standards are maintained.
