Reply to: District Scout Leader: Andy Edmonds
District Handball Competition: Sunday 25th January 2004
Listed below are a few details that
will hopefully help in your preparations for the above mentioned
date. If you have any further questions, please contact me or see me
at the next Leaders meeting on 5th January.
Venue is confirmed as Garden
Primary School (formerly Greenwood School site - same place as in
previous years), Mitcham.
Teams should be at the school
1.15pm for a 1.30pm start (finish by 4.30pm or 3.30pm if do not
qualify for knock out phase).
Cost of entry is £12.50
per team, payable
in advance to
Andy at his home address, or at District Leaders meeting on 5th
January. Any cheques should be made payable to "Wandle District
Scout Council".
Closing date for receipt of entry and the money is: Saturday 10th January 2004
A few reminders please:
For security reasons, all Scouts should wear their scarves at ALL times please.
Leaders are responsible for the behaviour of their Scouts between games and their conduct on school premises. We are getting the school at a special rate so please ensure you know what your Scouts are up to!
Scouts should not play on the grassed area or the adventure playground please.
Troops can enter as many teams as they wish, although if the total number of teams exceeds 16 we may have to reduce the entries for those Troops with more than 1 team entered.
Teams consist of 5 players and 1 substitute. A maximum of 3 of these 6 players can be aged 12½ or over. i.e. born before 26th July 1991.
Please remember that Scouts can only play for one team and will not be allowed to switch teams once they have played.
If you are likely to have
"extra" Scouts but not enough to make another team, please
let Andy know and we will put together composite team(s).
Teams will be drawn into 4 groups
all playing all. Therefore every team will play at least 3 games of 4
minutes each way.
If the total number of teams
entered is lower than 16, consideration will be given to reducing the
number of groups to two.
The top two in each group (or four
if only two groups), will then go through to the knock out phase,
when the playing time for each game may also increase.
Troops partcipating are expected to provide one person who is able to referee if called upon. Please advise this person's name when you enter your teams.
Incidences of indiscipline, poor
sportsmanship or un Scout-like behaviour from
players or supporters
will result in teams forfeiting games or being disqualified from the
Competition as a whole.
Could Peter T (6/12th) & Martin
Neal (36th) please bring your goals.
If anyone needs copies of the rules
for handball or wants someone to run some handball for your
Troop, please contact Andy.
