Police Officers will be on duty for the whole of the Parade.
The parade will form up 3 abreast as directed behind the band in The Causeway.
Groups including Beavers will form up in numerical order at the marker with their
name on. 1st Wimbledon at the front.
Explorer Units will all be together at the back of the parade.
Any Brownie or Guides attending will Parade with their associated Scout Group.
The Union & St George's flags will be carried at the front of the Parade by Explorers.
The Parade will move off at 12:50pm.
The route will be through Wimbledon Village High Street.
The 1st Lower Morden minibus will follow the parade to protect it from traffic
From the High Street the Parade will turn right into The Ridgway and left down Edge
Hill to the school.
The Parade will turn left into Wimbledon College through the second set of gates.
The Mayor, Councillor Nick Draper, will be just inside the college gates.
Each Group should be led by the GSL or Leader-in-Charge who will call for "eyes left"
& "eyes forward" at the markers.
At the College
Having passed the Mayor, the parade will bear right towards the playing field and
then turn left along the path at the top of the playing field into the open car park
area and then into the Sports Hall.
Flag Bearers will be gathered together as Groups arrive.
Groups will be directed into the hall by Scout Active Service Unit (SASU) stewards.
Parents are welcome to come but priority will be given to young people and leaders.
Parents will enter last and take up any spare space as directed by SASU stewards.
The Service
The service will be led by Sean Maher & Father Peter Gallagher.
Music will be provided by the Edge Hill Explorer Band.
A montage of District Scouting photographs will be displayed while Groups are entering
the hall.
The Service will commence at 1:30pm and be of approximately 25 minutes duration.
Entry of Flags followed by guests, president & vice-presidents.
Flag Bearers will be marshalled by stewards.
The National Anthem will be sung.
The entry of the Union & St George flags will be received by Joe Rogerson & Father
Peter Gallagher
At the conclusion of the Service, flag bearers will collect their flags and be positioned
as directed. Following the final prayer they will move out of the School followed
by Guests, President and Vice-Presidents
The collection should be taken by Groups as soon as they are seated using envelopes
provided and handed to SASU stewards as Groups leave the hall. The money collected
will be donated to the Walton Firs Foundation.
On leaving the hall, Groups will form up on the playing field behind their group
number sign.
Joe Rogerson will dismiss the District from the playing field at approximately 2:15pm
Uniform
Everyone should be in full, correct, smart uniform as we will be in the public eye
Leaders should wear their current award
Additional Notes
Law Readers & service participants will be from the 9th Wimbledon.
Toilets are available in the hall, signs will be put on the doors if they are not
already clearly marked.
Permission has been sought from the Rangers to use the common and was granted on
28th January.
Contact has been made with police Events Officer, Ian Crawford, who has reconfirmed
on 21st April that they will be in attendance.
