The King’s Scout Award is the highest possible award for an individual in the youth sections and network to achieve.
The award dates from 1909 and the reign of Edward VII when the King approved ‘Baden-Powell’s boys’ who passed special tests to be award the rank of King’s Scout. Today, the award is the culmination of all of the programmes which are present for all young people. It is the ultimate recognition for all of the hard work which individuals put in and is an award to be truly proud of.
The King’s Scout Award in its current iteration has been active since 2024 and prior to the death of Her Late Majesty Elizabeth II, and the coronation of King Charles III in 2023, the award was known as the Queen’s Scout Award.
As an organisation recognition of this award is given by inviting award achievers to parade at Windsor Castle and attend the National Scout Service in St. George’s Chapel.
The award is also closely tied to the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme which is also recognised to provide similar challenges.
