At Wimbledon & Wandle Scouts, the safety and wellbeing of every young person and volunteer is our absolute priority.
We are committed to creating a space where everyone feels safe, respected and able to take part in Scouting confidently.
We follow the policies and guidance of The Scout Association, including:
Young People First (Yellow Card) β the code of practice for all adults in Scouts
All volunteers complete mandatory safeguarding and safety training as part of their appointment and renewal process.
If you ever feel worried about the safety or wellbeing of a young person or adult in Scouting, you must report it immediately.
If someone is at immediate risk of harm, call 999 and then inform the Scouts Safeguarding Team.

We take a layered approach to safety and safeguarding across all our activities:
All volunteers are DBS checked and complete mandatory training.
Every activity is risk assessed before it takes place.
Nights Away and adventurous activities are approved by qualified permit holders.
We use secure systems such as Online Scout Manager (OSM) to manage records safely.
We maintain a confidential log of all safeguarding and safety incidents, reviewed by the District Trustee Board.
All volunteers follow the Young People First β Yellow Card guidance.
Every adult in Scouting must know and follow this code at all times.
