Wimbledon and Wandle Scouts supports young people aged 4-25 across Morden, Wimbledon and Mitcham. We help them gain skills for life through adventure, teamwork and leadership. We are a multi-cultural and extremely diverse district with a range of different ages and backgrounds for both young people and adult volunteers.
As a District, we support the 16 Scout Groups and 7 Explorer Units who deliver week-to-week sessions for the roughly 1300 young people who take part in Scouts across the London Borough of Merton.
We work with all volunteers in the District providing learning, development, growth and the opportunities for new adventures. We believe volunteering in Scouts should be rewarding, developmental and enjoyable; not just a responsibility.
Like Groups, the District is made up of teams of volunteers who each focus on a specific aspect of Scouts. The volunteers are led by the District Lead Volunteers who look out for the wider strategy of the district. Together, the Team Leaders, District Lead Volunteers and Group Lead Volunteers work together to form the District Leadership Team
As part of Scouts UK, we operate under the organisation’s royal charter. Locally, the District is managed by the District Lead Volunteers on a day-to-day basis with the governance of the District being managed by the Trustee Board. We work hard to ensure that we provide the best possible experience for all of our members.
Within the organisation, we are a part of Greater London South West county. The county provides support alongside the national organisation. Click below to find out more about Scouts in South West London or in the UK.
