Explorers enjoy a fantastic day on the water!

Date: 4th Jul 2026 Author: Jonny Reeks

Explorer Scouts from across Wimbledon and Wandle recently took to the water for an exciting paddlesports activity day, giving them the opportunity to develop new skills while enjoying the sunshine.

Throughout the day, Explorers had the chance to try canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding under the guidance of volunteers. Whether they were stepping into a kayak for the first time or building on existing experience, everyone embraced the challenge with enthusiasm.

Paddlesports are a fantastic way for young people to develop confidence, resilience and teamwork, while also encouraging communication, problem-solving and independence. Of course, there was also plenty of laughter and fun along the way!

Events like these demonstrate the wide range of adventurous activities available through Scouts, helping young people gain Skills for Life in exciting and memorable ways.

A huge thank you goes to all of the volunteers and instructors who gave up their time to organise and deliver such a successful day. Their commitment ensures that young people across the District continue to benefit from opportunities like these.

We look forward to seeing what adventures our Explorer Scouts take on next!
