First Response Learning Information

Scouts Courses

The easiest way to be signed off on a First Response course is to complete one through Scouts. In Wimbledon and Wandle, Alison Edwards keeps track of volunteers who need to complete this module and when. If you think you need to complete it or want to find out more about what is involved, contact Alison Edwards, Training Team Leader.

External Courses

We are required to validate all external courses for First Response, Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at work, as courses which are not provided directly by Scouts do not always meet the standard.

You may need to do some additional training, links to online modules are below and they don’t take long to complete. Please look  below to see what the requirements are for the type of external first aid training you have received.

In some cases you may need to take a short CPR assessment for Paul Green (County Training Team) to sign off your first aid qualification.

For volunteers who work in First Response occupations:

Doctors, Nurses and Ambulance Crews

We need to have a copy of your certificate / registration and evidence of recent CPR training.

Police Officers

Need evidence of in date Module 1 and module 2 of the college of policing first aid training.

https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/RYAconversion

16 hours REC / outdoor first aid course

If this course was a Surrey Scouts course completed with Martin David – this meets the first response requirement and can be validated immediately by Paul Green.

If it was a course with another provider then you will need to do a child CPR assessment and complete:

https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/fawconversion

For holders of Child CPR courses:

Paediatric First aid (1 or 2 day course)

Holders of this will need to do an adult CPR assessment and complete:

https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/childfirstaidconversion

If evidence (a certificate or email from the instructor) can be provided that child AND adult CPR is covered on their course – this will mean you do not need to do a CPR assessment.

The certificates (for the course you have done plus the Hampshire online learning additional modules) need to be uploaded onto “My Qualifications” on My Membership (this has to be done by the member), then you need to notify Paul Green. Please include your membership number and the certificates so they can be validated.

Once Paul responds to you with the validation, you are then responsible for notifying Alison Edwards so she can update the system.
